VM not starting

Whenever i try to start a VM it failed with the following message:

"'VM name' failed to start worker process: The process terminated unexpectedly. (0x8007042B)

My research on the matter all lead to a group policy configuration, but my configuration is correct. This problem started after i updated to Windows 10 1607.

event id 21502 processor mismatch fail over cluster

Situation was a customer took direct lightning hit. Both identical VMHOSTs lost their motherboard.  Replaced  boards brought back the fail-over cluster, everything looked fine except we could not move machines from host to host.  Error 1069 and 21502.  Trouble shot everything possible such as quorum disk, iscsi availability, lowered cpu cores. Cluster validation worked 100%. Error IDs would fluctuate every time we tried to move.  Turns out on one of the boards when I upgraded BIOS it turned off hyper-v setting on the motherboard. After this feature was enabled VMs failed back and forth without issue. DOH!

Just thought I would post this to save somebody some time troubleshooting.

Hi,

i have recently migrate VMservers from window2008 server to window2012 server on hyper-v through veeam using default settings, i also have installed the integration services all machine i had migrated to window2012 hyper v

there are few machine which keep stop responding at all, even to cntr+alt+del, left me with no option but to restart vm

this start happening very frequently now, even a four time a week. i search though event logs but could not found anything related.

i also notice that before i went completed frozen state, the machine stop responding partially. like the task manager did not respond nor i was able to shut down system it self, though i can click and open windows in system.

even the ping did not respose, i tried to disabled offload but even that did not work out.

thanks, Vijay

Moving a vm from Win2008R2 To win2012 server (HyperV)

When I try to run the Integration Services Setup Disk, it starts, but crashes immediately, with this error: An error has occurred:The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Windows Server 2012 R2

We are implementing a VMware environment and all research we foundstated that if using Windows Datacenter server, we'd only need one license per two-processor host. With three, two processor hosts, three licenses of Windows Datacenter server were purchased.

After spinning up a couple of servers using the Datacenter license, they are activated and working just fine, but when spinning up a third virtual server on that same host, it will not activate.

Following further research, it appears that we have made the mistake of buying a Retail copy of W2012r2 DC. Is this version incompatible with our virtualization goals of being able to spin up as many servers as the hosts will support?

Creating a Test Server within Hyper V

Hi All,

I have been contemplating creating a server on a virtual machine within Hyper V, I am just concerned as to what potential issues could arise from this, as I have never had to create a virtual server before. I may be worth pointing out this virtual server will purely for testing purposes to observer and see what happens if a make changes on Group policy (as one example), this is so I can make changes without any ramifications on day-to-day business operations.

I am under the assumption virtual server is contained (to an extent) within hyper v and any domain controllers, or AD won't override or conflict with existing DC's or our AD structure.

Thank you

BSOD when migrate WSERVER2012 R2

I have a VM with Windows Server 2012 R2 in a physic server with CENTOS6, and I'm using the XEN Project for virtualization. I need to migrate this VM to a physic server with CENTOS7. When the VM in booting on the new server, it restart and present a BSOD. I think the problem is the version of XEN Project on the Physic Server. Something about the emulated drivers on the XEN Project plataform, but I don't know.

How to move Hyper-V to physical server (Not running VM)

Due to some issue, I have to move the Win Server 2010 running Hyper-V back to physical server.

I can manage to copy the VHD image, but don't know how to put it back to physical server.

I'd came across a topic" boot from VHD", unfortunately people say this is not for production.

Thanks for your support in advance!

Hello,

I am running Hyper V with 2 vm's. I have a question. Should I apply the MS security updates and patches to the host server first, or the vm's?

Thank you and kindest regards,

Hi Team,

Microsoft had Virtual machines for some enterprise applications testing in this link :
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs/bb467605.aspx

But now it's not there. Is that switched to some other sites or does it got removed ?

NTFS-rights

If I have a shared folder with allmost full rights, the "erase", "erase subfolder and files", "own it" and change rights" unchecked, then one should be able, as an ordinary user, to change a file in it and re-save it without getting authority-errors, right? We´re getting the errors. The only way to change names on folder inside the shared folder and resaving files is for me to set the "erase subfolders and files" on/checked?

Install Hyper-V or Windows XP Mode on 32-bit Windows 10?

I have a client who installed a 32-bit Windows 7 OS on their 64-bit hardware so they could run their Windows XP based accounting system using a program called Windows XP Mode. They have since taken up the offer for Windows 10 but their Windows XP Mode no longer functions.

I have since tried to install Hyper-V to run the virtual machine but it seems that the install option isn't available in the 32-bit version.

Any ideas on how to access the virtual machines on a Windows 10 32-bit OS?

When ever I restart the entire system, everything normalises for a while before it starts again...Any idea on what the issue might be?

RemoteFX vGPU Windows 10 Pro DirectX 12 Hyper-V hosting CentOS 7

Hi Folks,

I have a CentOS 7 VM running in Hyper-V on my Surface Book with Windows 10 Pro. Under Hyper-V Server settings, Physical GPUs only the Intel HD 520 can be used the RemoteFX - the NVIDIA GeForce GPU detail:

Summary says "This GPU does not meet the minimum requirements for RemoteFX."

Capabilities: DirectX 11

Driver version: 10.18.13.6472

Driver model version: WDDM 2.0

But the NVIDIA Control Panel says:

Driver version: 364.90 (just updated direct from NVIDIA) 364.72 (current MS doesn't work either)

DirectX 12

So . . . is RemoteFX only supported with DirectX 11?  I'd obviously like to make use of the GPU even from my CentOS VM.

Hyper-V drive speed

I have a 2012R2 Hyper-V Host with a 2012R2 Hyper-V guest.  The Guest has a single virtual dynamic HDD on a dedicated RAID 6 array.  We have noticed a lot of system lag on the Guest.  Resource monitor seems to point to the Hard Drive being very busy.  Using a benchmarking tool on the Host, we see read speeds of 90-130 MB/s on same array that the guest is on.  Inside the guest, read speeds are 1-2MB/s.  I am looking for guidance in increasing the speeds on this VM Guest.  Thank you in advance.

Stuck at stopping state

Hello,

I have a Server 2012 standard hyper-v.

But when I shutdown a virtual machine, it gets stuck in the stopping state.

I first thought the update wouldn't install from the hotfix:

But after some digging this was not the problem: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4bdbbcba-cb3f-44b3-8e82-e3e5a059779c/update-not-applicable?forum=winservergen

So please help.

Best regards,

Patrick Fredriks
