Invisible Hyper-V Network Adapter

After a system failure we recovered our Mailerver from a backup.

But the Network Adapter has set itself to DHCP whereas we need it to be a fixed IP (ie the address it has always had).

When we try to set the IP address we get "The IP address nn.nn.nn.nn you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter "Microsoft Hyper-V Network Adapter #4"  "Microsoft Hyper-V Network Adapter #4" is hidden from the Network Connections folder because it is not physically in the computer...."  When we force and ignore the situation ipconfig gives the correct IP (ie our forced one) but actually we cannot reach the Mailserver so there must be a conflict.  Presume #4 is a vestige on the system but cannot see why or where since the VM was completely zapped and restored.  Help please!  Thanks Jean
