explorer.exe crashing on Windows Server 2012 R2 after folder redirection for specific users

Hello,

At one of our customers’ sites, we are having issues on terminal server running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Every day, when a specific user logs in, folder redirections are applied. After these directions are applied, the explorer.exe process crashes. The only resolution is to reboot the server. It does not matter how the user logs in. It is happening both on thin client, PC or laptop for this user. Later, the process also crashed when another user logged in. The error does not occur when user disconnects session, only when he/she logs on or off. Recently, this started happening for a second user aswell for no clear reason.

It’s important to note the issue started happening when about 130 Windows Updates were applied.

Following possible solutions have already been executed:

• Checking Windows image health;
• Running chkdsk command for disk errors;
• Applying a Windows update which solved an similar issue at another customers’ site, this did not solve the issue;
• I read on the forums that removing KB4055001, KB4074594 and KB4054980 could help, however this did not solve the issue since these KBs were not even installed;
• Removed 2 possibly related Windows Updates in the KB405 range, this did not help either;

What can we do in order to fix this error?

Following error shows up every time in the event logs:
