Hyper-V manager connects to our VMs and sometimes can log in and sometimes reports RPC not running.
What happens is that the login screen comes up, credentials are accepted and then either a grey screen or else the wallpaper but no desktop icons. If we try to log in using RDP we get "RPC not available". We've checked the Host and"net use rpcss" reports the service is running. The AD machine is generally not affected it is the File Server that exhibits this behaviour.
When we can we run gpupdate on both machines and check that the SYSVOL file is correctly mapped.
This seems to be random - some days yes some days no some days. Makes life difficult!
The first time this happened we reverted to a old Host disk image and all worked for a week, then this started again.
Anyone had this experience or has a solution please? Jean
